BABSON PARK, Mass. - The MIT women's volleyball team continued its magnificent season with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-9, 30-22) victory over host Babson College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest in Staake Gymnasium on Tuesday night. With the win, the Engineers improved to 31-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference, and in the process officially clinched their second NEWMAC regular season title in the last three years and their seventh overall dating back to the NEW 6. Babson dipped to 10-11 overall and 2-6 in the NEWMAC.

Leading Babson in defeat were senior co-captain Mandi Blackmer (Honeoye, N.Y.) and first-year Britt Libby (South Windsor, Conn.), who each finished with three kills. Senior Carlen Palau (Silver Spring, Md.) added a team-high 10 digs in the loss, while junior Ryan DePaoli (Kennesaw, Ga.) finished with nine digs.

Prior to the contest, there was a brief ceremony honoring Blackmer, Palau, and senior co-captain Jenn Wang (Taipei, Taiwan), who were playing in the final collegiate home match of their respective careers. Wang and Palau are each four-year members of the Babson volleyball team, while Blackmer played the last two seasons as team captain after transferring in.

The Beavers will wrap up their regular season play with a 1 p.m. match at WPI on Saturday. MIT will host Mount Holyoke in its regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.
