BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College women's tennis team closed out its 2007-08 season with a convincing 9-0 victory over visiting Salve Regina University on Friday evening, as the Beavers lost just five games in singles play and only 11 overall. With the win, Babson finished the year with a stellar record of 15-8. After being honored prior to the contest, senior co-captain Jamie Burke celebrated her final collegiate match with two wins. In doubles play, she teamed with sophomore Liz Sheerin on an 8-4 victory at number three, and she followed that up with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 win at number six singles. Also added doubles wins were junior co-captain Kali Hogan and sophomore Jessica Huang, who joined forces on an 8-2 victory at number one, and junior Heather Walsh and sophomore Lorena Becerra, who added an impressive 8-0 triumph at number two. Rounding out the Beavers overpowering singles performances were Hogan, who cruised 6-1, 6-0 at one, Walsh, who won 6-1, 6-1 at two, Huang, who coasted 6-0, 6-1 at three, Becerra, who blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at four, and Sheerin, who won via retirement after jumping out to a 6-0, 6-1 lead.
