PUERTO RICO - The Babson women's tennis team won the first of its two matches on its spring break trip to Puerto Rico on Monday, as the Beavers edged Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, 5-4. The contest began with singles play, which saw Babson win four of the six matchups to take an early 4-2 lead. Junior Heather Walsh won her match at number two, 6-3, 6-1, sophomore Jessica Huang prevailed at three, 6-2, 6-4, sophomore Lorena Becerra triumphed at four, 6-4, 6-2, and senior co-captain Jamie Burke won at six, 6-3, 6-1. All three doubles matches were close, but Babson finally put the overall match away with a thrilling win at number one, where the tandem of Huang and junior co-captain Kali Hogan claimed a 9-7 victory. With the win, the Beavers improved to 11-6 on the year. Babson 5, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 4
