5/5/08Lynch, Necklas Head List Of Award Winners At 27th Annual Senior Athletics Banquet The Babson College Athletics Department held its 27th Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Sunday night, where a total of seven student-athletes were honored. Women's soccer and Swimming and Diving senior Meg Lynch was named Female Athlete of the Class, while men's soccer senior Chris Necklas was selected as the Male Athlete of the Class. Softball senior Jess Byrn and baseball senior Matt Delaney were named the Scholar-Athletes of the Class, and track and field senior Dan Cowan took home the Michael J. Conlon Award. In addition to the senior awards, President Brian M. Barefoot '66 P'01 and his wife Pam Barefoot P'01 were the recipients of the prestigious Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics, while a pair of first-year athletes were also honored. Women's soccer, basketball, and lacrosse first-year Kristy Benoit received the Lori Vengrow Award, and baseball freshman Andrew Aizenstadt claimed the Colin "Chip" Brown Award. [+]
11/29/07Women's Soccer Star Lynch Earns Fourth Straight All-NEWMAC Honor Five Babson women's soccer players received conference honors this fall, led by senior captain Meg Lynch. The veteran back received All-Conference honors for the fourth straight year when she was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team. Junior Jackie Graham and sophomore Sam Bartman joined her on the All-Conference Team as both garnered Second Team honors, while junior Mila Doddi and sophomore Julie Berenz, who each selected to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference squad. 11/4/07Wheaton Downs Women's Soccer, 5-0, In NEWMAC Championship Game The Wheaton women's soccer team grabbed a two-goal lead less than 10 minutes into play and never looked back as the top-seeded Lyons won their seventh NEWMAC Tournament crown in eight years behind a 5-0 victory against number three Babson College during the title game on Sunday in Mirrione Stadium. Wheaton is now 21-0-1 and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth straight season. Meanwhile Babson, which was playing in its first NEWMAC Championship Game since 1998, ends its successful fall with a record of 11-7-2. [+] |
