Program History

Since achieving varsity status in 1975, the Babson women's basketball program has established itself as one of the finest in New England. Since its inception, the team has won one state championship and two conference titles while making 11 postseason appearances, including 10 in the past 16 years.

Babson's rise to regional prominence began in 1984-1985, when the squad went 14-9. A year later, the Beavers won 13 more games while claiming the Massachusetts State Championship. After a 16-9 mark and another state tournament appearance in 1986-1987, Babson recorded its first-ever 20-win season in 1987-1988, going 21-8 and earning the program's first berth to the ECAC Tournament.

In the 1990s, Babson exploded onto the national basketball scene by going 108-30 during the first five years of the decade. The Beavers won their first conference title in 1990-1991, and a year later qualified for the ECAC Tourney with a 26-4 campaign. The squad continued its history-making run in 1992-1993, finishing at 23-5 and earning its first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Beavers returned to the national tourney a year later, going 23-4 for their third straight 20-win season. Another ECAC Tournament appearance in 1994-1995 made it four consecutive postseason bids for the program.

In recent years, Babson has maintained its position as one of the premier programs in the highly competitive New England region. The Beavers went 19-8 and made their fourth ECAC appearance in 1997-1998, and then followed that up with a NEWMAC Championship and their third bid to the NCAA Tournament in 1998-1999. Babson then made four more trips to the ECAC Tourney over the next six seasons, including one in 2004-05, when the Beavers finished with a 17-11 record.
