BABSON PARK, Mass. - Third-seeded Babson College used a doubles sweep and three quick singles wins to claim a 6-0 win over sixth-seeded Clark University in the opening round of the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Tennis Tournament at Babson's Farwell Courts on Thursday afternoon.

With the win, the Beavers (10-10) advanced to Saturday's semifinal round, where they will take on second-seeded Springfield at 10:30 a.m. at Connecticut College. Meanwhile, Clark (4-10) saw its season come to a close.

Sophomores Alex Kamergorodsky (Millis, Mass.) and Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) continued their dominant doubles play for Babson, as they remained unbeaten in conference play with an 8-2 win at number one. The duo is now 12-5 on the year, including wins in all six matches against NEWMAC foes.
