BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College men's tennis team lost just one set in a 9-0 victory over visiting Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers moved over the .500 mark for the first time this season, as they improved to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Clark, meanwhile, dipped to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the NEWMAC. Babson sophomores Alex Kamergorodsky (Millis, Mass.) and Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Mass.) prevailed at number one doubles to remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. Senior co-captains Bed Edick (Del Ray Beach, Fla.) and Walt Sea (Stuart, Fla.) added a win at number two, and sophomore Moises Numa (Talahassee, Fla.) and first-year Ben Meyerson (South Nyack, N.Y.) teamed up for their first-ever doubles victory at number three. The Beavers continued to dominate in singles action, posting straight-set wins in all but one match. Kamergorodsky won, 6-0, 6-0 in the top slot, Edick prevailed, 6-0, 6-1, at two, first-year Austin Conti (Murray Hill, N.J.) won, 6-3, 6-0, at four, first-year Enrico Palmerino (West Brookfield, Mass.) recorded his first-ever win, 6-4, 6-4, at five, and junior Steve Huang (Edmonds, Wash.) cruised, 6-0, 6-0, at six. The closest match of the day came at number three singles, where Babson sophomore Ken Lin (Cavendish Heights, Hong Kong) defeated Clark senior Socheata Ly (Lexington, Mass.) in a third-set superbreaker, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-7.
