BABSON PARK, Mass. - Brandeis University won two doubles matches and five singles competitions to claim a 7-2 victory over host Babson College in a non-conference men's tennis contest at the Hartwell Courts on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Judges improved to 4-3 on the year, while the Beavers dropped to 4-7 with their first loss in four matches. All three doubles matches were close, with Brandeis taking two out of three behind 8-6 victories from junior Scott Schulman (Wethersfield, Conn.) and first-year Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla.) at number one and sophomore Seth Rogers (Gainesville, Fla.) and first-year David Silver (Nacogdoches, Texas) at number three. Babson's doubles point came courtesy of a 9-8 win from sophomores Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) and Ken Lin (Cavendish Heights, Hong Kong) at number two. Brandeis clinched the win with five straight-set wins in singles play, highlighted by a 6-1, 6-0 victory by Miller at one and a 6-1, 6-1 win by first-year Steven Nieman (Forest Hills, N.Y.) at two. Schulman added a win at number three, first-year Mayur Kasetty (Northboro, Mass.) prevailed at five, and Rogers won at number six. Babson's lone singles win came at number four, where first-year Austin Conti (Murray Hill, N.J.) won in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.
