Six Babson Tennis Players Honored By NEWMAC
The NEWMAC announced its men's tennis postseason awards last week, and a total of six Babson College players were recognized. After going 5-0 in regular season conference competition and 13-6 overall, sophomores Alex Kamergorodsky and Brian Lafayette received All-Conference First Team honors at number one doubles. Kamergorodsky also garnered Second Team honors in the number one singles position after going 3-2 against league opponents, while Lafayette was named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference squad. Also receiving honors for the Beavers were first-year Austin Conti, who was named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team at number five singles, and sophomore Edwin Lee, who was selected to the Second Team at number six singles. Junior Steve Huang and sophomore Moises Numa were also honored, as both joined Lafayette on the Academic All-Conference Team. [+]

Men's Tennis Reaches NEWMAC Finals, Falls To MIT
The Babson men's tennis team advanced to its fourth NEWMAC Championship match in eight years on Saturday, as the third-seeded Beavers toppled second-seeded Springfield College, 5-4, in the semifinals before falling to top-seeded MIT, 5-1, in the finals of the conference tournament at Coast Guard. Sophomore Alex Kamergorodsky, senior Ben Edick, sophomore Ken Lin, and sophomore Edwin Lee all recorded singles wins in the four-hour victory over Springfield, while Edick and fellow senior co-captain Walt Sea won their final collegiate match, 9-8 (6), at number two versus MIT. Tennis Rolls Over Sixth-Seeded Clark, 6-0, In NEWMAC Quarterfinals
Third-seeded Babson used a doubles sweep and three quick singles wins to claim a 6-0 win over sixth-seeded Clark University in the opening round of the 2008 NEWMAC Men's Tennis Tournament at Babson's Farwell Courts on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers (10-10) advanced to Saturday's semifinal round, where they will take on second-seeded Springfield at 10:30 a.m. at Connecticut College. First-year Austin Conti claimed wins in both singles and doubles play for Babson, while sophomores Alex Kamergorodsky and Brian Lafayette added a doubles victory to remain unbeaten in conference play.
