BABSON PARK, Mass. - Following a spectacular 2007-08 campaign, Babson College sophomore Casey Fazekas (Montreal, Quebec) has been named to the ECAC East All-Conference First Team for the first time in his young career. An ECAC East All-Rookie selection last winter, Fazekas was one of only two defensemen named to this year's All-Conference First Team. He played in all 26 games for the Beavers, recoring three goals and 13 assists for 16 points while logging only six penalty minutes the entire season. He was also selected as the Most Valuable Player of the Babson Invitational Tournament presented by Irving Oil back in November after leading the Beavers to the tourney championship. With Fazekas anchoring the stingy Babson defense, the Beavers posted a spectacular 17-6-3 record this winter, including a 13-4-2 mark in the ECAC East. Babson also earned a national-ranking in all but one week during the regular season - marking the sixth straight year the program cracked U.S. College Hockey Online's top 15. "This is a great honor for Casey, especially considering that it is recognition from all of our opponents coaches," says head coach Jamie Rice. "Casey is a valuable player for us because he is reliable in the defensive zone, has excellent hockey sense, and is gifted offensively. His greatest trait, however, is the passion with which he plays, and his enthusiasm for his teammates. He is a great leader and someone on whom we rely heavily."
