SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Babson College golf team posted its second straight third-place finish on Thursday, as the Beavers took third at the 2008 Western New England College Invitational at Veterans Golf Course. Sophomore Fernando Pineres continued his outstanding spring with yet another stellar effort, as he tied Adam Duplisea of Husson with a low round of 72. Duplisea then birdied the first playoff hole to take medalist honors, with Pineres finishing second. First-year Matt Doherty was also brilliant for the Beavers, recording his second consecutive fifth-place finish with a round of 75. Fellow rookie Bryan Eger tied for 21st with an 82, followed by senior co-captian Rory Doherty in 31st with an 83 and first-year Matt Foley in 44th with an 88. A total of 10 teams and 50 golfers competed in the event.
