STOW, Mass. - The Babson College golf team kicked off the spring portion of its 2007-08 season at the Lou Flumere Invitational at Stow Acres on Wednesday, where the Beavers placed ninth out of 23 teams with a total score of 328. Only 15 of 113 golfers broke 80 in the event, which took place amid very tough conditions. Sophomore Fernando Pineres (Cartagena, Colombia) and first-year Bryan Eger (Hopkinton, Mass.) were right at that mark, as they each paced Babson with matching rounds of 80 to finish in a tie for 16th overall. First-year Matt Doherty (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) came in 42nd with a round of 83, following by senior co-captains Rory Doherty (Chelmsford, Mass.), who finished 61st with an 85, and Travis Dewire (Wellesley, Mass.), who shot an 87 to place 70th. Babson will continue its spring schedule with its own Invitational Tournament at Atlantic Country Club this Sunday and Monday.
