WATERFORD, Conn. - Senior captain Claudia Schulz (Weston, Fla.) closed out her collegiate career in spectacular fashion on Saturday, as she set a new program record in the 6k at the 2007 New England Division III Cross Country Championships at Harkness Memorial Park. The women's team finished 33rd out of 54 scoring teams at the event, while the men placed 34th out of 54 squads.

Schulz capped off her stellar Babson career with a record-setting performance, as she placed 74th overall in a time of 23:26 - eclipsing the previous 6K program mark of 23:34 set by former teammate Lydia Halloran '05 back in 2004. It was 25 seconds faster than Schulz's previous best of 23:51, which was set at last weekend's ECAC Championships.

Sophomores Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) and Kim Luu (Skokie, Ill.) also ran well for Babson, finishing 222nd and 223rd in 26:38 and 26:41, respectively, while junior Alison Sullivan (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was close behind in 233rd with a personal best time of 26:52. Senior Ingrid Miller (Edina, Minn.) closed out her career with a run of 27:53 - her second fastest 6K time - and first-year Lauryn Sherman (San Diego, Calif.) added a run of 28:29 in her first regional championship appearance.

On the men's side, first-year Andy O'Brien (Wolfeboro, N.H.) recorded one of the Beavers' four PRs on the day, placing 159th overall in 27:45. Senior Pat Socorro (New York, N.Y.) also posted a huge personal best in his final collegiate event, as he cut almost a full minute of his previous PR by placing 199th in 28:36. Junior co-captain Greg Keshian (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) recorded the team's third best performance in 214th place with a run of 28:50, while first-year Mikita Kourtchikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with a PR of 29:39. Rookie Jared Bartlett (Penfield, N.Y.) added a run of 29:56, first-year Jordan Bray (Henderson, Nev.) cut a minute and a half off his previous PR with a personal record of 33:40, and senior co-captain Scott Cormier (Salem N.H.) gutted out a 33:54 in his final race despite battling an injured leg.
