WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Babson College cross-country teams turned in a stellar performance at the ECAC Championships at Williams on Saturday, despite battling frigid conditions. The men placed 20th out of 37 scoring teams (45 total), and the women came in 22nd out of 31 scoring squads (43 total). Leading a strong all-around team effort for the men were junior co-captain Greg Keshian (North Andover, Mass.), who placed 59th overall with a time of 28:05, and first-year Andy O'Brien (Wolfeboro, N.H.), who was close behind in 65th with a personal best time of 28:09. Senior Pat Socorro (New York, N.Y.) came in 143rd with a run of 29:43, followed by another personal best by rookie Dan Bonsoms (San Diego, Calif.) in 171st with a time of 30:36. Rounding out the tightly-packed Beavers' lineup were rookie Jared Bartlett (Penfield, N.Y.), who placed 184th in 31:01, first-year Mikita Kourtchikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who came in 189th in 31:06, and first-year Jordan Bray (Henderson, Nev.), who finished 259th in 36:08. On the women's side, senior captain Claudia Schultz (Weston, Fla.) turned in yet another magnificent effort, as she recorded the fastest 6k performance of her career by finishing 18th overall in 23:51. The 18th-place finish was the highest ever by a Babson female at the ECAC Championships, and her time was only 15 seconds shy of the program's 6k record. Also running well for the Babson women was sophomore Kim Luu (Skokie, Ill.), who placed 121st with a personal best time of 26:43. Sophomore Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) added a 141st-place effort in 27:05, while junior Alison Sullivan (Tyngsboro, Mass.) posted the women's third PR of the day by taking 164th in 27:31. Senior Ingrid Miller (Edina, Minn.) checked in at 194th with a time of 28:49, and first-year Lauryn Sherman (San Diego, Calif.) took 200th in 29:00 in her 6k debut.
Babson will finish up its 2007 season at Connecticut College next Saturday, when the Beavers compete in the NCAA Division III New England Championships. |
