Cross Country Teams Get In Final Tune-Up At Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Babson cross-country teams participated in their final tune-up for their championship stretch on Saturday, as they competed at the Plansky Invitational at Williams College. The women ran in both a 4k and 5k race, placing fifth overall in the latter, while the men ran a rare 6k event, placing sixth overall.

Leading the women in the 5k event was senior captain Claudia Schulz (Weston, Fla.), who placed 15th overall with a time of 20:24. Sophomore Kim Luu (Skokie, Ill.) followed in 32nd place with a run of 22:09, and sophomore Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) was close behind in 34th with a time of 22:32. Junior Alison Sullivan (Tyngsboro, Mass.) came in 45th with a 23:33, and senior Ingrid Miller (Edina, Minn.) made her season debut with a run of 24:07 - good for 47th place.

Three Babson harriers ran in the women's 4k race, led by first-year Lauryn Sherman (San Diego, Calif.) in 50th place with a time of 18:43. First-year Larina Kleynerman (Sudbury, Mass.) came in 57th with a time of 19:38, and sophomore Alisha Wilsnack (Fairfield, Conn.) finished 58th with a run of 19:43.

Junior co-captian Greg Keshian (North Andover, Mass.) paced the men in the 6k, finishing 43rd overall with a time of 20:22. First-year Andy O'Brien (Wolfeboro, N.H.) took 65th in 20:56, and senior Pat Socorro (New York, N.Y.) followed in 101st with a 21:56. First-year Jared Bartlett (Penfield, N.Y.) placed 127th in 22:56, first-year Ryan Cornelius (Franklin, Mass.) came in 130th in 23:07, and first-year Dan Bonsoms (San Diego, Calif.) placed 131st in 23:14. Rounding out the Babson lineup were first-year Mikita Kourtchikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 133rd, first-year George Staruch (Groton, Mass.) in 145th, first-year Jordan Bray (Henderson, Nev.) in 151st, and junior Kevin Butera (Walpole, Mass.) in 154th.

 

 

Babson will now take a week off before closing its season with three weeks of championship action. The Beavers will compete in the NEWMAC Championships on October 27, the ECAC Championships on November 3, and the NCAA Division III New England Championships on November 10.
