11/30/07Lang, Szeto Earn Academic All-Conference Honors The NEWMAC recently announced its postseason awards for cross-country and volleyball, and Babson College sophomores Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) and Jenney Szeto (Boston, Mass.) each represented their respective teams on the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team. A key member of the women's cross country team, Lang ran in all seven races for the Beavers this fall and ranked third on the squad with an average time of 24:18.8. Szeto played in six matches for the Babson women's volleyball team this fall, finishing with nine digs in six games. [+]
11/10/07Schulz Sets Program Record At NCAA New England Cross Country Championships Senior captain Claudia Schulz closed out her collegiate career in spectacular fashion on Saturday, as she set a new program record in the 6k at the 2007 New England Division III Cross Country Championships at Harkness Memorial Park. The women's team finished 33rd out of 54 scoring teams at the event, while the men placed 34th out of 54 squads. Along with Schulz, five other Beavers set new personal records on Saturday, including junior Alison Sullivan, senior Pat Socorro, and first-years Andy O'Brien, Mikita Kourtchikov, and Jordan Bray. 11/3/07Cross-Country Excels At Frigid ECAC Championships The Babson cross-country teams turned in a stellar performance at the ECAC Championships at Williams on Saturday, despite battling frigid conditions. The men placed 20th out of 37 scoring teams (45 total), and the women came in 22nd out of 31 scoring squads (43 total). Leading a strong all-around team effort for the men were junior co-captain Greg Keshian, who placed 59th overall with a time of 28:05, and first-year Andy O'Brien, who was close behind in 65th with a personal best time of 28:09. On the women's side, senior captain Claudia Schultz turned in yet another magnificent effort, as she recorded the fastest 6k performance of her career by finishing 18th overall in 23:51. The 18th-place finish was the highest ever by a Babson female at the ECAC Championships, and her time was only 15 seconds shy of the program's 6k record. [+] |
