Aug. 1, 2007

BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College track and field teams tacked on another record-setting accomplishment to their best season ever recently, as six men and one woman earned NCAA Academic All-American status - the most in program history. In addition, the men received Team Academic All-American honors.

Earning Academic All-American recognition were Kristen Lang (Kennebunk, Maine) for the women's team and Sherwin Parkhurst (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Kirill Kustov (Gaithersburg, Md.), Dan Cowan (Toms River, N.J.), Ryan Salomone (Longmeadow, Mass.), Patrick Socorro (New York, N.Y.), and Greg Keshian (North Andover, Mass.) for the men's squad. The seven individual honorees was the third most of any Division III school in the country.

"I could not be any more pleased with both teams this past season," said head coach Russ Brennen. "It is great to see that all of their hard work has paid off, especially as we come off of our best season in program history from an athletic standpoint."

"It is refreshing to know that our athletes take their dedication and work ethic from the track into the classroom. At times it can be very challenging balancing athletics and academics. However, they continue to step up and do an awesome job. I am extremely proud of them for this well-deserved accomplishment."

The 2007 campaign was indeed the best in the program's history, as Babson set two new records by sending eight individuals to the NCAA New England Championships and four more to the ECAC Championships.
