SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Eight individuals and two relay teams represented the Babson College track and field teams at the 2007 NCAA Division III New England Championships at Springfield College on Friday and Saturday. The event was highlighted by junior Dan Cowan, who earned All-New England honors in the 110 meter hurdles for the second straight year.

Already Babson's all-time record holder in the 110 high hurdles, Cowan broke his own school mark in the event with a finals run of 15.43 seconds, placing him seventh overall. As a result, he earned All-New England status for the second consecutive year, making him just the second person in program history to earn regional honors in multiple seasons. Chris Perry accomplished the feat in the 10000 meter run in 2002 and 2004.

Saturday's other highlights included a stellar performance by first-year Lauren Blackburn in the 400 hurdles, as she just missed All-New England recognition when she placed ninth with a time of 1:08.00. The rookie phenom also competed in the 100 hurdles, where they placed 16th overall with a time of 16.81 seconds.

Also competing for the women were first-year Kristen Lang, first-year Katie Trant, and junior Nadine Lussier. Lang enjoyed a tremendous day as she finished 24th in the 10000 meter run with a career-best time of 41:15.88 -- a full 1:23 faster than her previous best. Trant tied for 13th in the high jump when she cleared 4 feet, 9 1/2 inches, and Lussier placed 20th in the javelin with a throw of 89 feet, 11 inches. The women's 4x400 team also performed well, finishing 13th in 4:34.8.

Rounding out the men's competitors were senior Sherwin Parkhurst, who placed 13th in the 10000 meter run with a time of 34:08.67, and sophomore Greg Keshian, who came in 19th with a time of 36.06.16 in the same event. The men's 4x400 relay team also ran well, coming in 20th overall with a time of 3:32.50.
