CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Babson College track and field teams enjoyed yet another fantastic day at the non-scoring MIT Spring Invitational on Saturday, where the Beavers posted nine personal records, four school records, two New England qualifiers, and three ECAC qualifiers.

Leading the way for Babson was sophomore Lauren Blackburn (York, Maine), who contributed to three record-breaking performances. She set a new school record and qualified for the ECAC Championships with a 16.29 in the 100 meter hurdles, placing fifth overall, and then won the 400 meter hurdle event with a time of 1:06.28 - also a school record. The sophomore sensation closed out her outstanding day by joining first-year Nicole Crowley (Canton, Mass.), first-year Lauren Palmer (Wrentham, Mass.), and senior captain Claudia Schulz (Weston, Fla.) in the 4x400 relay, where the quartert set a new school mark with a time of 4:27.52.

In addition to the 4x400, Crowley also added a PR of 17.30 in the 100 hurdles, qualifying her for the New England Division III Championships. All of Babson's hurdlers have now earned a spot at regionals - a first in program history. Schulz rounded out the women's list of qualifiers with a magnficient performance in the 1500 meter run, as she took 10 seconds off her own school record with a time of 4:54.77 - placing her sixth overall and qualifying her for both the New England and ECAC Championships. Schulz also added a PR and just missed the program record with a time of 2:27.81 in the 800.

Other highlights for the women included personal bests for Palmer, who placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet, 4 1/4 inches, first-year Elana Hogan (Boxford, Mass.), who posted a distance of 82 feet in the discus, and first-year Larina Kleynerman (Sudbury, Mass.), who placed fourth with a career-best 13.17 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

Senior captain Dan Cowan once again paced the Babson men, as he finished fourth overall and qualified for the ECAC Championships with a time of 15.76 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles. Senior Kirill Kustov (Gaithersburg, Md.) also performed well in the event, finishing seventh with a 16.31 - the second best time of his career.
