LOWELL, Mass. - The Babson College track and field teams participated in the non-scoring George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell on Saturday, where senior captain Claudia Schulz and sophomore Lauren Blackburn both qualified for the ECAC Championships with exceptional performances.

Schulz became just the second runner in Babson history to break the 19-minute mark in the 5000 meter run, as she placed second overall with a time of 18:58.77. It was the third fastest mark in program history behind Lydia Halloran's finishes of 18:52.20 and 18:54.13.

Blackburn joined Schulz with an ECAC-qualifying performance, as she placed second with a time of 1:07.13 in the 400 hurdles. The sophomore star also added a strong effort in the 100 hurdles, as she took ninth in 17.04 seconds.

Other highlights for the women included a personal record of 30 feet, 6 1/2 inches in the triple jump and a solid effort of 4 feet, 8 1/4 inches in the high jump by sophomore Katie Trant. First-year Larina Kleynerman also performaned well, taking 10th in the long jump and 18th in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

On the men's side, junior Greg Keshian placed second overall in the 5000 meter run, finishing with a time of 16:08.33. Junior Kevin Butera continue to progress well in the triple jump with another strong day, as he placed 10th with a distance of 40 feet, 3/4 inches. Sophomore Charlie Brown also excelled for the Beavers, finishing 13th in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 11 inches.
