Phone: (781) 239-5822 Russ Brennen enters his fourth season as head coach of Babson's track and field and cross-country teams. A 1992 graduate of RIT, Brennen has brought over two decades of running experience to Babson. In his first three seasons at the helm of the program, the program has sent has sent 19 individuals to the New England Championships in 23 different events while also producing two all-conference selections and five All-New England athletes. Brennan's most successful season came this past spring, when his squad set a new program record with eight regional qualifiers in 10 events to go along with four ECAC qualifiers. His team's also performed magnificently in the classroom, as six men and one woman earned Academic All-American status - the squad's most ever in a single season. In addition, the men's team earned Team Academic All-American honors. After receiving his Master's degree from Syracuse University in 2001, Brennen spent the next three seasons as the assistant cross-country and track and field coach at Babson. During that time, he also served as a senior designer in the Office of Publications. In addition to collegiate coaching, Brennen has enjoyed great success working for TRACS, Inc., a well-established athletic consulting company, for the past 10 years. He has been involved with a wide variety of projects, including club-level coaching with the Cambridge Running Club and the Boston Running Club, a national powerhouse in cross-country and track. He has also worked on national and international projects like the John Hancock Elite Village for the Boston Marathon, the U.S. National Masters Track and Field Championships, and FILA's Discovery Kenya project. Brennen ran competitively at both the high school and college levels, participating in indoor track, outdoor track, and cross-country at RIT. He has also competed in a total of seven marathons, including three in Boston. |
