WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - The Babson College men's ski team moved one step closer to its fourth USCSA National Championship bid on Saturday, as the Beavers placed fifth overall after day one of the Eastern College Ski Conference (ECSC) regional championships at Waterville Valley.

Junior co-captain John Roche anchored Babson's balanced attack in Saturday's slalom event, as he placed fourth overall out of 69 competitors with a combined time of 1:32.27. He was joined in the top 20 by fellow junior co-captain Kevin Fusick in 13th with a time of 1:37.80 and sophomore Connor Lemenze in 19th with a time of 1:40.41. First-year Keith Vella was also outstanding for the Beavers, placing 23rd overall in 1:42.32.

If Babson can maintain its hold on fifth place after Sunday's giant slalom event, the Beavers would secure its third bid to the national championships in the last three years and its fourth overall.
