3/7/08Men's Skiing Places 15th In Slalom At USCSA Championships The Babson men's alpine ski team wrapped up its fourth appearance at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River on Friday, as the Beavers placed 15th in the slalom event. After earning Second Team All-American honors in the GS on Thursday, junior co-captain John Roche boucned back from a tough first run to place 46th overall in the event. Also performing well for Babson were first-years Keith Vella and Max Winthrop, who finished 51st and 72nd, respectively. [+]
3/6/08Roche Earns GS All-American Honors As Men's Skiing Competes At USCSA Nationals Babson junior co-captain John Roche finished 10th overall to earn Second Team All-American honors on Thursday, as the Beaver men competed in their fourth-ever USCSA National Championship meet at Sunday River. Roche became the third male and sixth person overall in Babson history to earn USCSA All-America honors, as he finished 10th overall with a combined time of 2:19:54. Fellow junior co-captain Kevin Fusick also skied well on Thursday, finishing 26th overall with a combined time of 1:11.76, while sophomore Chris Jacobs placed 49th overall with a total time of 2:29.19. 2/24/08BEST REGIONAL FINISH EVER SENDS MEN'S SKIING BACK TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The Babson men's alpine ski team recorded its best finish ever at the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference Regional Championships at Waterville Valley on Sunday, as the Beavers finished fourth in the giant slalom and fourth overall to secure the program's fourth-ever bid to the USCSA National Championships. It marks Babson's third national bid in the last four years, as the men's previous trips came in 2006, 2005, and 1990. On Sunday, Babson was led by yet another magnificent performance by junior co-captain John Roche, as he finished seventh overall in the GS with a time of 2:01.54 to place fourth overall in the combined standings. He was once again joined in the top-20 by fellow junior co-captain Kevin Fusick, who placed 16th with a GS time of 2:03.95 to tie for 14th in the combined standings. Both Roche and Fusick were named to the ECSC All-Conference Team as a result of their outstanding weekend performances. First-year Max Winthrop and sophomore Chris Jacobs were also brilliant, placing 22nd and 23rd, respectively. [+] |
