         <description><![CDATA[The NEWMAC announced its men's tennis postseason awards last week, and a total of six Babson College players were recognized. After going 5-0 in regular season conference competition and 13-6 overall, sophomores Alex Kamergorodsky and Brian Lafayette received All-Conference First Team honors at number one doubles. Kamergorodsky also garnered Second Team honors in the number one singles position after going 3-2 against league opponents, while Lafayette was named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference squad. Also receiving honors for the Beavers were first-year Austin Conti, who was named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team at number five singles, and sophomore Edwin Lee, who was selected to the Second Team at number six singles. Junior Steve Huang and sophomore Moises Numa were also honored, as both joined Lafayette on the Academic All-Conference Team.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Babson senior tri-captain Anita Martignetti became the women's lacrosse program's new all-time points leader on Wednesday, as she tallied four goals and one assist in the Beavers' 19-10 victory over host Trinity College in the First Round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. With her five-point performance, Martignetti now has 189 goals and 66 assists for 255 points in 70 career games, moving her past Babson Athletics Hall of Famer Tracy Russell '97 into first place on Babson's all-time list. Russell recorded 213 goals and 39 assists for 252 points in 57 career contests from 1994 to 1997. Martignetti is now the program leader in points and assists while trailing only Russell in goals.]]></description>

Women's soccer and Swimming and Diving senior Meg Lynch was named Female Athlete of the Class, while men's soccer senior Chris Necklas was selected as the Male Athlete of the Class. Softball senior Jess Byrn and baseball senior Matt Delaney were named the Scholar-Athletes of the Class, and track and field senior Dan Cowan took home the Michael J. Conlon Award. In addition to the senior awards, President Brian M. Barefoot '66 P'01 and his wife Pam Barefoot P'01 were the recipients of the prestigious Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics, while a pair of first-year athletes were also honored.          <description><![CDATA[Babson senior captain Dan Cowan and sophomore captain Lauren Blackburn both made history on Saturday, as each earned All-New England honors at the 2008 NCAA New England Division III Championships at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Competing in the 110 meter hurdles, Cowan placed seventh in the qualifying heat with a time of 15.85. He followed that up with another seventh-place effort in the finals, finishing in 15.95 seconds. It marked the third straight season in which the senior star garnered All-New England honors in the event, making him the first person in Babson track and field history to earn regional honors in three different seasons. Meanwhile, Blackburn broke into the top eight in the 400 meter hurdles with a spectacular time of 1:06.24 on Saturday, helping her garner All-New England honors for the first time in her young career.
