5/10/08 - W LacrosseWomen's Lacrosse Falls To Third-Ranked Franklin & Marshall, 15-4, In NCAA Second Round The Babson College women's lacrosse team's magnificent 2008 season came to a close on Saturday, as the Beavers fell to defending national champion Franklin & Marshall College, 15-4, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. With the loss, the Beavers, ranked 12th in the nation, finished the year with a record of 16-3. Junior Lindsay Bucci paced Babson with three goals, while senior tri-captain Anita Martignetti added another. Senior Melissa Martin and sophomore Kaitlyn Pettengill each picked up an assist, and first-year goalie Sarah Macary finished with seven saves and a team-high five groundballs. [+]
5/8/08 - W LacrosseMartignetti, Macary Head Huge List Of Women's Lacrosse NEWMAC Honorees The NEWMAC announced its 2008 Women's Lacrosse postseason honors this week, and league Champion Babson College led all teams with eight honorees - including five First Team selections, the conference Athlete of the Year, and the league Rookie of the Year. Heading up Babson's long list of award winners was senior tri-captain Anita Martignetti, who earned her second straight NEWMAC Athlete of the Year selection as well as a spot on the All-Conference First team. First-year goalie Sarah Macary became the Beavers' fourth straight Rookie of the Year selection, while senior Brianne Carlson, junior Jackie Godfrey, sophomore Kaitlyn Pettengill, and sophomore Anna Collins all joined Martignetti on the All-NEWMAC First Team. 5/8/08 - W LacrosseMartignetti Breaks Women's Lacrosse Points Record Babson senior tri-captain Anita Martignetti became the women's lacrosse program's new all-time points leader on Wednesday, as she tallied four goals and one assist in the Beavers' 19-10 victory over host Trinity College in the First Round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. With her five-point performance, Martignetti now has 189 goals and 66 assists for 255 points in 70 career games, moving her past Babson Athletics Hall of Famer Tracy Russell '97 into first place on Babson's all-time list. Russell recorded 213 goals and 39 assists for 252 points in 57 career contests from 1994 to 1997. Martignetti is now the program leader in points and assists while trailing only Russell in goals.
